Bee Icons

Even Windows 7, with its modern looks, can get dull sometimes. New icons and wallpapers will bring a breath of fresh air, but it can be a long and tedious task to change the icons for all files of the same type, for the system's functions and so on. When it comes to icons, Bee Icons makes it possible to change most of them, with minimum effort, from a user friendly interface.

The application is designed to work on certain Windows versions, from Win 95 to XP, but you can use it on Vista or Win 7 as well. Just make sure you run it in compatibility mode. Regarding the setup process or system requirements, you will be pleased to know that Bee Icons can be installed in a matter of seconds and it can run even with older hardware.

Icons are organized in various categories on the interface. You can access icons for your desktop, Start menu, drives, folders, files and others by clicking navigation tabs. The application will not change them for individual files or folders. It will change the icons for all folders and files of the same type, as well as icons for applications like Internet Explorer or functions, like Search. The operation is simple: just select one of these items from a tree menu, choose an icon from a list and click the Apply button beneath the list.

Most icons will change instantly, while others need to be refreshed. You can either click this option in the Windows Explorer context menu, or the one located on Bee Icons interface. If you are not satisfied with your new icons, you can restore all of them with a single click on a toolbar option. You may also create a whole new theme, from the ground up. After clicking the New option, on the software's interface, all entries (My Computer, Recycle Bin, etc) will be stripped of their icons, so you can select new ones. The icons on your desktop or other places will not be affected, until you select and apply other ones on the application's interface. Once you create a new theme, you can save it and load it again at any time.
